During the 200th birthday celebrations of the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall, its first woman member (c. 1860) was celebrated.
Melissa Hardie took this bi-centennial occasion to present a study of Elizabeth C T Carne and her scientific and artistic circle of relatives and associates. A local and national celebrity in her own time, Carne has all but dropped off the pages of history and documentation in ours. She is set to be re-introduced into the annals of social ecology and natural history.
