Would you like to volunteer with us?
The Hypatia Trust’s bookshop and events rely on the enthusiasm and commitment of our wonderful volunteers. Our volunteers are passionate about women’s stories and histories, and enjoy selling books, learning about archives and collections, and working with arts and cultural events.
Available volunteer roles include:
Bookshop/Front of House Volunteers - Our bookshop volunteers love a good story! They are responsible for selling books and artwork, providing information and answering questions, and generally offering a warm welcome to our visitors and community. The bookshop is open Wednesday through Saturday, 11am-4pm. We ask that all bookshop volunteers make a commitment of at least 2 days per month.
Event volunteers - Our events hosts enjoy greeting and serving visitors, and can manage a variety of tasks confidently, flexibly and discreetly. Our events take place during daytimes and evenings. We ask that events volunteers are available an hour before and after an event.
All volunteers enjoy a discount in the Bookshop and on tickets to Hypatia events, and other opportunities to get involved in our other programs, operations, and gatherings.

Do you have a passion for Women’s Herstories?
Women in Cornwall is an archive documenting the lives and achievements of women in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Women have made significant contributions to this region and we aim to foreground their stories, moving women from the margins of history to the centre. A new function of the archive allows anyone to suggest an entry to our growing archive of over 600 remarkable women.

Join our volunteer editorial team to guide contributions and other additions onto the site. No editorial experience necessary, just passion and enthusiasm for this unique regional initiative.
If you are keen on women’s history, have an eye for detail and basic computer skills, you’ll fit right in. Leave your details via this link and one of the team will be in touch.
