In 2026 the Hypatia Trust turns thirty.
For three decades we've been recording, preserving, and celebrating the lives and work of women in Cornwall — building an archive, running a bookshop, and creating a space where women's creativity is taken seriously.
We're marking the anniversary with a season of events this summer. We'd love to see you.
The Hypatia Trust has been gathering and celebrating women's stories in Cornwall for thirty years — through our archive and research collections, our bookshop on Chapel Street, and a growing events programme that brings readers, writers, and researchers together.
We're a small charity run largely by volunteers who care about the same thing: that women's lives, work, and creativity deserve to be found, remembered, and shared.
Events
Talks, readings, and gatherings at our Chapel Street space and beyond. Everyone welcome.
Books
Browse and buy publications from the Trust, or visit our bookshop on Chapel Street — one of the few bookshops in the South West dedicated entirely to women's writing.
Our Story
Thirty years of women's lives, research, and creativity in Cornwall. Where we came from and where we're going.
Our space is also somewhere you're welcome to come and think — whether that's a quiet afternoon with the archive, a meeting room that feels nothing like a meeting room, or simply a good place to sit with a book.
STAY WITH US
In one half of the Trust’s beautiful Chapel Street premises sits our two-bed en-suit self-contained Hypatia Apartment. The Trust’s offices are situated next door and all the income from renting this lovely apartment goes to help support the charity and the work we do.
We take bookings year-round and look forward to welcoming guests to this stunning corner of the world. If you, or anyone you know, are planning a visit to the West Country do think of us — we think it's definitely the best place to stay in town!
